Life, Death, Love
2024
oil on canvas, acrylic paint, foam
72 x 48 in
The culture of Buddhism and Taoism inspires this work and projects Yijing's personal experience into different characters. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in the middle listens to the voices of suffering in the world, but cannot always answer the world's problems. On the left is the old man under the moon, who is in charge of marriage. It seems that he has brought a couple together, but he does not know that this is the beginning of a bad relationship. On the right is King Yama, who is in charge of hell, punishing the hypocritical evil people in the world.

Toxic relationship
2024
oil painting, airbrush, insulating foam, hot-melt adhesive
38inch x 26inch
The inspiration for this work comes from my childhood memories of my grandmother. She is a deeply religious person who always reminds me to think of praying to Guanyin Bodhisattva. Because of this, I once felt tired of praying and wanted to avoid those occasions.
However, as the months went by, I gradually came to understand my grandmother's intentions and began to grasp the meaning of faith. I once avoided Guanyin, but now she feels like a newfound realization guiding me toward her. While the motivation behind this work may seem rooted in religious worship, it is a longing for my grandmother and a desire to honor her teachings.

The Burning of the King Boat
2024
airbrush, insulating foam, gold paper, transparent thread
This work is inspired by the traditional ceremony of Donggang, Taiwan. Every three years, people gather on the beach in Donggang, Pingtung County. People stayed there all night waiting for the ceremonial burning of a traditional sailboat built specifically for the ceremony. This work wants to express the concept of the power of prayer and the elimination of disasters.
